The R740 is a 2U server offering more drive bays, higher RAM capacity, and easier component access than the compact 1U R640. If you need more storage or additional expansion cards, the R740 gives you greater flexibility - without a significant increase in running costs.
Yes, most available models are off-lease units - enterprise-grade used hardware that has been serviced and tested. Every server is checked before dispatch and comes with a 36-month warranty. Both new and off-lease models are available across more than 140 configurations.
The R740 works well as a virtualisation host running VMware or Proxmox, a SQL database server, a backup solution, a NAS with TrueNAS, or a platform for Zabbix and domain controller workloads. Dual processor sockets, up to 768 GB DDR4 ECC RAM, and flexible storage options make it a versatile machine for businesses of any size.
The R740 is part of Dell's 14th-generation platform, designed with long-term production deployments in mind. Servers of this model typically remain in service for 7–10 years, with spare parts availability and software support - including iDRAC 9 - remaining stable well beyond the original release date.
Yes - many configurations available at Hardware Direct do not include storage media, but the server already comes with an H730P RAID controller, iDRAC 9, BOSS S1, dual power supplies, cooling, and rails. Simply install your own drives and mount it in the rack.
Prices at Hardware Direct start at PLN 2,682 net for base models and can reach tens of thousands of zloty for fully configured systems with dual Gold processors, SSDs, and 128+ GB of RAM. Servers are held in stock and ship within 24–48 hours.
